Why Should I Join?
Why Should I Join Crimewatch Scotland?
Crimewatch Scotland is built around a simple principle: businesses and communities are stronger and safer when they communicate and work together.
Whether you operate a retail store, shopping centre, pub, bar, nightclub, restaurant, hotel or another type of business, becoming part of Crimewatch Scotland means you don’t have to deal with safety concerns, suspicious activity or developing incidents in isolation.
Our network brings participating businesses together through modern communications technology, information sharing and operational support, helping members stay informed, connected and better prepared.
Stay Connected Through TRIBE
Crimewatch Scotland members can be connected through TRIBE, our Push-to-Talk over Cellular (PTToC) communications technology.
TRIBE provides fast two-way communication using cellular and Wi-Fi networks, enabling authorised users to communicate locally or across much wider geographical areas without the traditional range limitations associated with conventional two-way radio systems.
This means participating businesses can quickly communicate with other authorised Crimewatch Scotland users and, where available, community CCTV Service Centres and local Police.
Share Information When It Matters
Good information can make a real difference.
Crimewatch Scotland helps members share relevant information about incidents, suspicious activity, antisocial behaviour and other potential safety or security concerns.
Information received in one location can, where appropriate, be communicated to other users, helping neighbouring businesses and surrounding areas become aware of a developing situation.
Support Before, During and After an Incident
Crimewatch Scotland is about more than providing a radio.
Our affiliated dispatchers monitor and assist radio users and can help coordinate communications when required. This encourages good radio discipline and helps maintain professional operational standards across the network.
Members can communicate before, during and after an incident, providing reassurance that support and information may be available when it is needed most.
Supporting Retailers
Retail crime can affect businesses of every size.
Crimewatch Scotland helps retailers communicate about shoplifting, organised retail crime, suspicious behaviour, antisocial behaviour and other incidents affecting their stores, employees and customers.
By sharing relevant information quickly, participating retailers can become better informed about activity taking place beyond their own premises.
Supporting a Safer Night-Time Economy
Crimewatch Scotland also works with pubs, bars, nightclubs, restaurants, hotels and other licensed premises to support safer and better-connected night-time environments.
Participating venues can communicate about developing incidents and other relevant safety concerns, helping neighbouring premises remain aware of situations that could potentially affect their customers or employees.
Where available, communication with community CCTV Service Centres and local Police can further strengthen this coordinated approach.
